At MemoKee, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our service.
Data We Collect
MemoKee collects and stores the following types of data to provide you with our service:
Account Information
- Email address
- Full name
- Login credentials (securely hashed)
- Country and city (optional)
Content Data
- Saved URLs and web content
- Notes and descriptions you create
- Tags and categories you assign
- AI-generated summaries of your content
- We do not store file attachments or uploaded documents
Billing Information
- Payment data is securely handled by third-party processors (Stripe)
- We store only subscription status and billing cycle information
- We never see or store your credit card details
Usage & Analytics Data
- IP address and general location
- Device type and browser information
- Usage patterns and feature interactions
- Error logs and performance metrics
AI Processing & Third-Party AI Services
MemoKee uses AI to extract titles, summaries, categories, and tags from the URLs and content you save. Some of this processing is performed by third-party AI services. We disclose these explicitly so you can make an informed decision:
Google Gemini (primary provider)
- What we send: the URL you save and the publicly available text content fetched from that URL; for images you save, the image bytes
- Why: to generate a structured title, summary, category, and tags
- Provider: Google LLC, operating under the Gemini API terms — content is not retained or used to train Google models when accessed through the paid API
OpenAI (fallback & embeddings)
- What we send: the same URL + content described above when Gemini is unavailable; plus short text snippets to generate vector embeddings used for semantic search
- Why: extraction fallback and semantic search ranking
- Provider: OpenAI, L.L.C., operating under the OpenAI API Data Privacy & Security policy — content submitted via the API is not used to train OpenAI models
We do not send your account credentials, billing information, location, or anything you have not explicitly saved as an item. The first time you save an item, the app shows a consent screen explaining this. You can stop AI processing entirely by not saving items.
Both providers are listed in our App Privacy declaration on the App Store under "Data linked to user — User Content".
How We Use Your Data
We use your data to:
- Provide and improve MemoKee's core functionality
- Generate AI summaries and enable intelligent search
- Process payments and manage subscriptions
- Send important service updates and notifications
- Analyze usage patterns to improve the product
- Provide customer support when needed
Our Commitments to You
We Don't Read Your Content
Your saved content, notes, and descriptions remain private. We only access your content when absolutely necessary to provide specific features you request (like AI summaries or search functionality).
We Don't Sell Your Data
We will never sell or share your personal content with third parties for marketing purposes. Your data is shared only with essential service providers that enable MemoKee to function.
We Store Only What We Need
We practice data minimization. We only collect and store information that's essential for providing MemoKee's services.
Third-Party Services
To provide our services, we work with trusted third-party providers:
- Supabase: Database and authentication infrastructure
- Stripe: Secure payment processing (web only)
- Google Gemini: Primary AI extraction provider — see AI Processing section above
- OpenAI: Fallback AI extraction and semantic search embeddings — see AI Processing section above
- Resend: Transactional email delivery (password reset, account confirmation)
Account Deletion
You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time:
- In the app or on the web: Profile Settings → Delete Account → type DELETE to confirm
- By email: privacy@memokee.com
Account deletion is immediate and irreversible. All saved items, categories, reminders, preferences, and authentication credentials are removed from our database. Active Stripe subscriptions are cancelled. Backups containing your data are purged within 30 days per our retention policy.
Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest, secure authentication, and regular security audits.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Export your data
- Opt out of non-essential communications
Data Retention
We retain your data as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where legally required.
Children's Privacy
MemoKee is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll notify you of significant changes via email or through the service.
